The city of Parksville is known for its oceanfront location, which is home to the downtown area and mid-rise condo developments, as well as quiet, residential areas. The intersection of the two highways is where the center of the city is found, which features plazas and malls alongside boutique stores and restaurants. There are plenty of options for dining out, whether searching for a quick bite during a lunch break or taking the family out for a nice meal. From grocery stores to doctors offices, the Parksville downtown has a lot to offer. 

Parksville Community Park is right next to the beach (which spans about a kilometer in length). This area has a very large playground and splash pad for the kids, an outdoor gym, pickleball courts, sports fields, an outdoor theatre, a skatepark, benches and a pavillion, and free parking. It also connects to the Parksville Boardwalk, which trails down towards the beach. The Quality Foods Sand Sculpting Competition and Exhibition is also held annually in the park.
