Lake Cowichan is known for its outdoor recreation opportunities. But you don’t always have to journey far for spectacular sights. There is also a plethora of areas to hike and mountain bike in and around Lake Cowichan. Or, you could camp at any one of the five lakeside campsites that surround Cowichan Lake. Each is easily accessible from the lakeside communities. The campgrounds at Gordon Bay Provincial Park are a popular, nearby destination. Cowichan River Provincial Park is located east of the town, and offers camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing, swimming, and more!

In the center of the town is where most of the area’s shops and restaurants are located, and includes both large chain stores and local businesses.
